Hello lovely ladies! I miss you all so much and I hope that everyone
had a great Thanksgiving. Though this was my first Thanksgiving
without my family, I spent Thanksgiving with my England family–all of my friends at 21 Pembridge Gardens, my house house here in London. It’s kind of a Real World set-up, where 30 random strangers living together have basically become best friends.
This past week was full of Thanksgiving shenanigans that helped to
remind us of home and let us celebrate together. It was really nice to
come back to Pembridge and think about pumpkin pie after talking about
Thanksgiving at school with the only response from classmates being
“oh, that’s this week?” Life without Thanksgiving takes
everything out of context! Everyone at Pembridge was ready to put Thanksgiving
festivities on full blast and get the holiday season started. On Monday, our house had a little potluck dinner, where everyone either bought ingredients or cooked something delicious.

In a matter of hours, our tiny kitchen was full of turkey, chicken, pie, mashed
potatoes, sweet potato casserole, and other assorted deliciousness.
Everyone ate together, talked, and had a great time!
Then on Thursday, our study abroad program reserved a huge section of this restaurant called Smollensky’s for a catered Thanksgiving dinner. It was a little bit strange eating Thanksgiving dinner in a restaurant,
but everything was delicious and I got to see Ishita (another ADPi) outside of
class…a rare occurrence!
I couldn’t eat any turkey because I’m trying to be a vegetarian, so sad times were had by me. They did have ridiculously good chocolate mud pie with ice cream though, so I wasn’t that deprived. Overall, though we weren’t at home for Thanksgiving, my friends and I had a great Thanksgiving in London, our home away from home!
